Google Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro - Smooth and Fluid Flagship Experience?

After the huge success of the Google Pixel 5, Google released the Google Pixel 6 and the Google Pixel 6 Pro in October of 2021. The phones from the Pixel line have been known for their minimalistic and fluid UI and user experience. The Google Pixel 6 phones are no different, it is designed by Google, has a new chipset, stereo speakers and an upgraded camera setup. Let’s discuss Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro and let you know if you should buy a refurbished Google Pixel.

Google Pixel 6 vs 6 Pro

The Google Pixel 6 weighs 207 grams which is not the lightest but not the heaviest. It has an aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back of the device. The Corning Gorilla Glass at the front and the back of the device protects it from drops and scratches. The reassuring weight and the design makes the phone feel excellent in the hands. The Pro variant on the other hand weighs 210 grams. Both the variants have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating which protects the phone from water and dust particles from getting inside the device.

The base model has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 90hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1080 x2400 pixels, whereas, the Google Pixel Pro has a 6.71-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a varying 120hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. Both models support HDR10+ content right out of the box and have a smooth display. The displays are excellent with good colours and deep blacks.

The Google Pixel 6 Series is powered by the Tensor chip, the performance is on par with some of the best flagship phones of 2022 like the Galaxy S21. The Google Tensor processor is a 5nm chipset just like the Samsung Galaxy S21's Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Google Tensor chip processor also has Titan M2 Security.

Let’s talk about the cameras now, the base model has a dual rear camera setup on the back featuring a 50-megapixel wide and a 12MP ultrawide camera, whereas, the Pro model has a triple camera setup on the back featuring a 50-megapixel, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and a 12mp ultrawide lens. Both phones have optical image stabilization and features like Night Sight and portrait mode. The Pro model has a dedicated telephoto lens, whereas, the base model doesn't. The performance of the camera system is great and photos have good dynamic range along with sharpness, and colour accuracy. The phones are capable of recording in 4k resolution at up to 60fps (frames per second). On the front, you would find an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the Google Pixel 6 and an 11.1-megapixel front camera on the Google Pixel Pro.
